General

Some of the university workstations has a option to activate VPN connection before logging in. The VPN connection enables for example the usage of network drives and simplifies the workstation usage.

Connecting

1. First, connect your computer to either a wired (e.g. a dock at your workstation) or wireless network. For instructions on how to set up a wireless network, click here.

2. Start VPN connection by clicking the icon in the screen's lower right corner.

3. Check that the VPN connection address is correct and click "Connect".

4. Type in your JYU username and password in the "Username" and "Password" fields.

Note! Vpn groups require use of multi-factor authentication with DUO Mobile application. Write word push into "Duo MFA Passcode or Push" -field. This field may read "Duo MFA Passcode or Push" or "Second Password". 

5. If there are pending updates to VPN application, they will be automatically downloaded and installed. Installation might require workstation restart, which is recommended. After restart you have to re-do steps 1 to 3.

6. When connection is established, you can log in normally to your workstation with your credentials. When VPN connection is active, the icon for disconnecting is visible in lower right corner on the screen.
