Turnitin is internet-based plagiarism detection service which promotes both academic writing and responsible conduct of research.
Owing to its large background database, Turnitin is an effective tool for checking the originality of texts and comparing texts for similarities. Also AI detection tools is integrated in Turnitin. Moreover, the versatile pedagogical tools of Turnitin are essential in supporting and guiding students in the learning process of academic writing. With the help of the tools, the instructor can guide students to observe the practices of the responsible conduct of research, to which the University is committed.
At JYU Turnitin is integrated with Moodle learning environment. Self service tool for JYU staff and degree students Turnitin Draft coach is in M365 Word.
Students always return assignments to Turnitin personally. Teachers cannot do this on behalf of students. When returning an assignment, the student must approve the terms and conditions of Turnitin and give consent for saving the data. The student is marked as the copyright holder of the assignment in Turnitin.
Teacher can add a Turnitin assignment to Moodle course area. There are three choices in using Turnitin plagiarism detection in Moodle:
