During the spring term 2023 there is a transition period when you can use existing Assignment or Quiz activities, but after that you have to create a new activity with Integrity settings. Old activities cannot be used as a copy from another course space. From the beginning of Autumn semester 2023 in the Assignment and Quiz activities only Turnitin Integrity can be used.

Moodle's Assignment and Quiz settings will be replaced with the Turnitin Integrity plugin, which is a simpler Turnitin tool for plagiarism detection in terms of settings and functions. Turnitin Integrity can do a similarity check, but it completely lacks the feedback tools and process writing tools of Turnitin Feedback Studio. After the transition Turnitin Feedback Studio and its versatile tools are only available in Moodle in the Turnitin Assignment 2 activity. Koppa's Turnitin with Feedback Studio will remain unchanged.

Summary of the necessary actions in Moodle after the Turnitin Integrity implementation

 

• If the course area has Assignment and Quiz activities with Turnitin plagiarism plugin settings that have been created before the change or they have been copied from earlier course areas, those activities will work according to the original settings also after March. If the settings need to be edited, you must create a completely new activity.
• If there are Assignment or Quiz activities in the Moodle course space that do not yet have submissions and has Turnitin plagiarism plugin settings, create new corresponding activities instead. For example, if the Assignment submissions open in May, create a new Assignment or Quiz activity, in which you set plagiarism detection Turnitin Integrity in use, and delete the old activity.
• If you reuse your previous course, do not use copied activities with Turnitin plagiarism detection. Create new activities instead and delete the copied versions.
• If you want to use Turnitin Feedback Studio tools for example Quick Mark or voice comments, use a Turnitin Assignment 2 activity.
